Will I see you in New Orleans?

I have heard from many of my friends and colleagues that this year they are not going to attend SBL - always a last minute decision. Why are so many people not going this year?

I am just finishing my presentations - thankfully! - but have come down with a bad sinus infection. My doctor raised her eyebrows when I said I had to get on a plane Thursday. I hope I feel better then than I do today!

I hope you feel better by the time you have to travel. See you in New Orleans - I just noticed you won't be at the Bibliobloggers' Dinner, which is a pity, but hopefully our paths will cross. I'm really rather dismayed to have to choose between your paper and Jorunn's on the Mandaeans, which unless I'm mistaken are at the same time.

This comment is pointless, but the first time it wouldn't let me subscribe to follow-up comments. Please delete this if and when you see fit!

Regrettably I won't be there - but I have only one SBL (San Diego) under my belt - where I did meet you briefly in the mystical room. One day I will get there again. I am really sorry to miss New Orleans since my son played there in the symphony and I never visited him. Also - it is always in my prayers and for the US in general because of Katrina.

I'll be there - and will see you on Friday morning at the NT mysticism discussion. When is the Bibliobloggers dinner?

I will be at SBL, but unfortunately I won't be at the NT Mysticism sessions on Friday, as I have tried to sit in on in the past couple of years. I don't get in until Saturday afternoon.

Looking forward to meeting you at SBL!

Feel better soon! I'll be at the SBL, but I've also heard lots of people saying that they're not going. My best guess is that it's because of the economy--I'd imagine many schools have really slashed whatever travel budgets they had, or urged faculty not to go unless absolutely necessary.

I can't make the bibliobloggers dinner because I have to be in session until 6:30. The dinner starts at 6 pm on Sunday evening @ cafe giovanni.

The NTMP on Friday is only holding its morning session due to cancellations of intended presentations.
